WZB in your Kiez III: Whose Neighborhood? Migration, Culture, and Gentrification in Berlin
Who gets to feel at home in the city — and who doesn’t? Rising rents, displacement, and the transformation of established neighborhoods disproportionately affect people with a migration background. What does research tell us? At the third and final event in the “WZB in Your Kiez” series on June 11, 2026 at 17:30, Sarah George, researcher at the WZB, will give a talk at a neighborhood Späti near Kottbusser Tor on where refugees settle, what ethnic segregation means, and what both imply for a more inclusive Berlin, followed by a guided tour of the area led by Querstadtein e.V. The event will be held in English and is free of charge.
Berlin-Kreuzberg, Kottbusser Tor (exact location to be announced)
