How much government do we want? Decision-making authority: The example of local governments
Conference on November 26 and 27, 2026, at the WZB – Berlin Social Science Center, Reichpietschufer 50, 10785 Berlin
To what extent is the state capable of taking action, and what is needed for transformation to succeed at the local level? The conference will examine this question from the perspective of local governments, where climate change, digitalization, the mobility transition, and demographic change intersect directly. Experts from academia, public administration, politics, and civil society will discuss how government action can be organized in an effective, sustainable, and well-funded manner.
